The
American military protects oil shipping lanes, protects many
oil-producing countries, and fights to defend the U.S. and its allies
from terrorist groups funded by oil money. Why? Because oil has a
monopoly on transportation fuel, so it is vital to America's interests.
But fuel competition would change that. And it would put fewer servicemen and servicewomen in harm's way.
